Thong Tat Engineering Pte Ltd, founded by Er. and Mrs David Lim in 1982. Er. Lim is a current grade 9 professional engineer, who is currently, actively involve in the electrical engineering line. He began his work in PUB (now known as Singapore Power) and BBC, (now known as ABB) in Singapore. In his earlier days, he was also involved in lecturing in Singapore Polytechnic as a part-time lecturer. Er. David Lim is a respectable engineer, who had built his reputation as a practical engineer with good theoretical foundation.
Our core business is in Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, and Project Management. We have been involves in H.T. & L.T. switchboard, transformer and cable testing, fault detection and investigation, commissioning of electrical system and equipment, and project Management.
In 1990s, when Singapore had matured into a developed country, leading in many aspects in South East Asia, we see an increase demand for maintenance services. We discovered maturing technology in non-destructive testing, with increase demand for Infrared Thermographic Technique in Predictive Maintenance in the Americas and Europe, we invested in our first Infrared Thermographic Camera in 1997. Since then, we had established predictive Maintenances as one of our core business, with Infrared thermographic technique as our foundation supported by airborne ultrasound, and a couple other NDT technique instruments on the way.
Over the years, we were involved in various projects, such as the Kranji, Seletar, Bedok, Ulu Pandan Water Reclaimation Plant project, during its construction phase and new installation phase, The construction of Esplanade Theatre, festive Lighting project including one project on Orchard road Christmas lighting in 1994, and more. Our current projects that we are involve with are, Siltronic at Tampines, Helios Terminal in Jurong Island, Exxon Mobil’s extension in Jurong Island, IMFlash at woodlands, and more. Our involvements include installation, preventive testing measures, predictive Maintenance through Infrared Thermographic technique.
Thong Tat Engineering Pte Ltd had successfully establish ourselves as a well known Electrical Engineering company, a respectable comapny with experience and responsible comments from our clients. We believe that our most important assets are our employees, who are known to be good leaders and well trainned personnel, upholding a higher standard in OSH, where we aim to eliminate unwanted incident, to ensure the safety and health of our own employees and the people we work with. We emphasis improvements and upgrading through continuous education in every employees. We value our professionalism and efficiency towards our clients, upholding integrity, good attitude, and moral standards both behind close doors and in public.

Human Genome Project (HGP) is a project that started with the U.S. Department of Energy, at a later date, Wellcome Trust (U.K.) became a major partner; with additional contributing partner from Japan, France, Germany, China and others joined the project in the latter years. This project commenced in 1990, and was completed in 2003. HGP’s goals are,
1. Identify 20,000 to 25,000 genes
2. Determine sequence of 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA
3. Storage of information on Database
4. Improve tools for data analysis
5. Transfer related technologies to the private sector
6. Address ethical, legal and social issues that may arise from the project.

4 years after the completion of the project, the contributors are still contributing results to the project. China, being one of the contributing countries, started intense research and development in 1995, with training from country, which in 1995 has more advanced technology and knowledge. Today’s China, is one of the largest contributor of Asian genes to this project to date. Just in the year 2006, China United Gene Health Test Tech Co. Ltd, China (CUG) who is one of the participants of China’s contribution of genetic sample contributed at least 80,000 Asian data to HGP.
Fudan Sheng Wu Technology Co. Ltd, China (FSW) is a R&D subsidiary company of CUG, who collect drop-off stem cells from the public to do test on Susceptibility Gene. FSW is a combine venture by Fudan University’s Professors, researchers and some investors, and in China’s university placement, the top University for Arts is Beijing University, the top University for engineering is Qing Hua University, and the top University for Biotechnology is Fudan University. Hence, FSW work only with the elites of china’s biotechnological researcher, ensuring leadership in R&D, updates from international biotechnological R&D to ensure competitiveness in test and R&D worldwide, and more importantly, their intent for their work is not in profit making, but in accuracy and precision of maintaining consistency in all test, and R&D work.
As the world progress, more people are getting more health conscious then our previous generation. Many of us spend a lot of time learning and understanding the how and the importance of preventive health maintenance. Many of us even take steps to maintain a good health, by eating a good diet, exercising, working out in the gym and for some people, they supplement by eating vitamins supplements, just in case they do not consume enough vitamins in their diet.
By taking steps without knowing our Susceptibility Gene, we can only take steps according our current health diagnosis, and for many, we are encouraged to take in additional measures. Unfortunately, these measures may be unnecessary, because what we do not know, we can only take extra steps to prevent. With susceptibility genetic test, we can predict what our health can be like if we take proper preventive measures.
Some years ago, an uncle of mine died of aneurysm. He was a healthy man, who runs 4 marathons a year, 20km run 3-5 times a week, and he maintained a healthy diet. Aneurysm according to his surgeon is a congenital weakness. Had he knew that he suffer from congenital weakness for aneurysm, he would have taken steps to keep a watch out for his work related stress level, which indirectly cause his high blood pressure, which is the cause of his aneurysm.
Taking care of our own health is important, but doing it blindly, may lead to more health problems. Through susceptibility genetics research, we can now know the kind of illness are we susceptible to, and taking appropriate steps to eat well, exercise properly, sleep well, and supplement accordingly.
As we mentioned, HGP had only started in 1990, and hence, the technology available is relatively new to the world. Up to now, we have only limited knowledge, but 60 of the most common health issues had been cloned and patented, available to test the risk level of our susceptibility to health issues, and through these test, we can take measures to prevent or in some cases if we can’t prevent, we can delay the timing of us suffering from the health problem.
